About This Coffee

Chelbesa, located in the Gedeo zone of the Gedeb district, is a top-notch coffee producing region in the renowned Gedeb Woreda. Its lush semi-forested terrain, featuring false banana trees and shade-grown coffee trees, makes Chelbesa a prime example of optimal coffee-growing agro-ecology.

In 2019, SNAP Specialty Coffee constructed a new wet mill in Danche, a small hamlet within Chelbesa Village, in the hopes of procuring only the best red cherries from nearby farmers. Their aspiration became a reality upon the completion of the project. The wet mill's fermentation tanks were constructed of ceramic, which enhances coffee clarity during processing and accelerates fermentation by retaining heat within the ceramic.
