Quality Report - Colombia La Esperanza Cerro Azul Geisha Honey

About This Coffee

Cerro Azul is a renowned coffee farm in Colombia that exclusively grows the Geisha variety. The farm's climate is perfect for this type of coffee, and the Herrera siblings, Rigoberto and Luis Eduardo, who are third-generation coffee producers, have planted various types of bronze-tip and green-tip Geisha throughout the farm. Cerro Azul has won the National Coffee Championships several times and has also made it to the World finals.

The Herrera siblings come from a family with a long history of coffee production, with their grandparents starting in the coffee business in 1945. In the late 90s, Rigoberto and Luis took over the family business and shifted towards organic production. They acquired Potosi and later expanded their organic coffee production by purchasing land for Finca La Esperanza.

Cerro Azul spans 20 hectares of land, and the Geisha cherry is harvested here and then taken to La Esperanza, another farm owned by the Herrera family, for processing. Rigoberto brought the Geisha seeds from Panama, and in 2008, his Geisha won the Best of Panama at La Carleida farm. The same Geisha is now grown at Cerro Azul.

Cafe Granja La Esperanza is committed to producing high-quality Geisha coffee by replacing 60% of the trees with new-generation Geisha seeds. These seeds have been carefully selected from previous trees that showed superior productivity, quality, and resistance to disease.
